Message #1--Important Information--Food Service System Changes:

Dear Parents and Students:

Please check this web site daily for information on the transition to NutriKids and the new online MyNutriKids portal for parents.

This is to notify you that there will be changes in the Food Service Department’s computer software system, which will better serve the students in the Jersey Shore Area School District.  Our school meal service will transition to Nutrikids system during the week of February 6, 2012.

Students will continue to use their current Student ID Card that they have been using all year long.  This ID number will stay with the student until he/she graduates.

One of the main advantages to this new system is the improved online access that is available to parents.  Once the system is fully implemented, parents can create an account at www.mynutrikids.com and perform the following actions:

·         View account balances

·         View account history including purchases and deposits

·         Make online deposits using a debit or credit card  (fee applies)

·         Deposit money into multiple student accounts in one easy transaction

·         Set up email notifications for low balances

Information will be posted on this web site when MyNutriKids.com is live for the Jersey Shore Area School District, and you will receive instructions how to create an account.  In the meantime, you can click the link above for an overview of the information parents will find at MyNutriKids.com.

Check and cash prepayments will still be accepted and encouraged. If you are currently enrolled in automatic credit and debit card program, we will continue this until the end of the school year. The program will not be offered for the 2012-13 school year.  Balances that were in the old system will be rolled over to the new system as a school rollout occurs.
The current system of lunch and breakfast credits will not be available with this new system.  Any outstanding meal credits will be converted to their cash value prior to being transferred to the new system.

Question:  What will stop the student from purchasing more than the parent allows?

Answer:  If this is a problem with your child, simply notify us in writing with your limitations, and we will enter it into the system.

Example: I do not want my student to purchase snack items or to eat breakfast at school. This information will be placed in the system and we will comply with your wishes.

If you are concerned about a food allergy that your student has, please notify the cafeteria or food service director with this information.  A warning will appear on the cashier’s screen for a quick review of the items on the student’s meal tray.

If your student has qualified for free or reduced price lunches or breakfasts, this information is securely contained within the system and the meal will be processed just as it is for all other students.  There is no need to be concerned for a potentially uncomfortable situation for the student.

There will be some inconveniences in the first few days as the staff members become familiar with the new system.  If you have any questions please call me at 398-5061 or email me at bmarzo@jsasd.k12.pa.us. I will be glad to address your concerns. Thank you in advance for your patience in implementing this system.

The rollout schedule is:
Monday, February 6:  staff training
Tuesday, February 7:  Jersey Shore High School, Jersey Shore Middle School
Wednesday, February 8:  Jersey Shore Elementary, Avis Elementary
Thursday, February 9:  Salladasburg Elementary, Nippenose Valley Elementary
Friday, February 10:  all schools online/wrapup

Sincerely,

Ben Marzo, Food Service Director
